This is a post-GCSE course designed to give students a sound education and training in Mechanical Engineering. The course is a more practical alternative to AS/A2 levels and provides students with an enhanced introduction to HND/Degree courses in Engineering. Higher Education Institutions (Universities and Colleges) will accept the Extended Diploma as qualification for entry to a broad range of mechanical engineering courses at degree level.

Teaching and assessment
A strong emphasis is placed on practical work and several assignments, projects and practical units are completed throughout the two year course.
Entry requirements
4 GCSEs A*-C, including maths and English, or BTEC Level 2 Diploma (Overall Merit - must include merit in maths) or equivalent.
Applicants with alternative qualifications and/or experience will be assessed at interview for their suitability for study at this level.
