Description

This qualification has been developed for people wanting to work in the children and young people’s workforce. It is suitable for those in employment or those working as a volunteer. It builds the knowledge and skills needed when working with children and young people from birth up to 19 years.

This course will take 1 year to complete, but may in some cases be completed more quickly.

You will be expected to attend college fortnightly and will be required to volunteer or to be employed in a suitable childcare setting for a minimum of 8 hours per week.
Suitable childcare settings include:

Primary SchoolsThe mandatory units in this course cover childcare, learning and development from birth to 19 years, as well as paediatric first aid, basic health and safety procedures, and safeguarding children. You will also learn how to contribute to activities and experiences designed to cater for children at different ages and stages of development.
