Who is the course for?

The courses listed below are aimed at IT professionals who work in the complex computing environment of medium to large companies. Candidates should have at least one year of experience implementing and administering Windows Server 2008. Many students use this course as progression from CompTia A+.

What will I study?

Windows Server 2008 – Active Directory Configuration - 70-640
Which includes: Configure Domain Name System (DNS) for Active Directory; Configure the Active Directory infrastructure; Configure Active Directory Roles and Services; Create and maintain Active Directory objects; Maintain the Active Directory environment and Configure Active Directory Certificate Services.

Windows Server 2008 - Network Infrastructure & Configuration – 70-642
Which includes: Configuring Addressing and Services, Configuring Names Resolution, Configuring Network Access, Configuring File and Print Services and Monitoring and Managing a Network Infrastructure

Windows Server 2008 - Administrator - 70-646
Which includes: Planning for Server Deployment, Planning for Server Management, Monitoring and Maintaining Servers, Planning Application and Data Provisioning and Planning for Business Continuity and High Availability

The units will be delivered consecutively and you will follow the syllabuses as stated on the individual web pages which can be found at the links above.

How will the courses be delivered?

Each of the courses above are delivered over a 10 week period, 3 hour evening sessions (30 weeks in total). The emphasis is on practical deployment and configuration. Information will be presented in a lecture format with practical labs, allowing students to gain hands-on experience. We recommend that students undertake additional self-study. We will recommend a course text that we suggest you purchase.

Course Entry Requirements

The college operates a no refunds policy as detailed below. Cancellations and transfer requests are subject to the following conditions:

• More than 4 weeks notice – no charge
• 4 weeks notice – 30% of the cost
• 2-3 weeks notice – 50% of the cost
• 1-2 weeks notice – 75% of the cost
• Less than 1 weeks notice – 100% of the cost

All cancellations must be made in writing and are subject to a £10 administration charge. The full fee’s policy is available on request.

What will I get at the end of the course?

Successful completion of exams 70-640, 70-642 and 70-646 will give you Microsoft Certified Solution Associates status.
