There are fantastic opportunities once you have qualified, including promotion routes to supervisory and management roles.

In this area, we offer Programme Led Apprenticeships. As a programme led apprentice you spend two terms studying full-time at Blackburn College including an extensive programme of work experience. In the last term you will be helped to gain paid employment. Once you complete your Level 2 qualification you can progress to a Level 3 qualification at college or in the workplace.

Entry Requirements

There are no specific entry requirements, however if you need to develop your literacy and numeracy skills, as part of the qualification you can obtain Key Skills in application of number and communication & literacy skills.

What will I study?

You will study a Level 2 or a Level 3 adult diploma certificate in Adult Social Care, for the first 6 months you will attend college for 3 days per week and spend 2 days per week at placement. You will study in classes, small working groups and individually, using discussion, written work, case studies and videos.

Apprenticeship programmes cover the following areas:

Residential Services with:

  • Older people
  • Adults with Physical and/or Learning Disabilities
  • People with Mental Health Problems

Day Care Services with:

  • Older people
  • Adults with Physical and/or Learning Disabilities
  • People with Mental Health Problems

Community Services

How am I assessed?

Build up the skills you need in your work and the knowledge to achieve your qualifications, including:

  • Communicating with staff, people being cared for and others
  • Equality, diversity and rights
  • Working within Health and
