Digital Photography – Adobe Lightroom to Photoshop – Beginners

Who is the course for?

The course is aimed at those who would like an up to date introduction to image editing software. Many platforms for digital photo-manipulation exist and this course aims to offer an insight into modern approaches to image management and optimisation. Those interested in gaining an overview of both the interface and operation of Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop would benefit from undertaking this course. The course also offers employees or trainees the possibility of learning about image manipulation software for the benefit of their organisation or business.

What will I study?

Learners will begin the course by looking at the interface of Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop for utilities relevant for photographers and undertaking several learning activities aimed at developing their knowledge of the two packages. Key area of study will include; Lightroom and Photoshop interfaces, importing images from camera, labelling and tagging images, creating editing pre-sets, optimising images, creating and importing files, basic tools and image-adjustments, preparing images for print. Whilst this is not a comprehensive study of Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, it does offer the student an introduction to the software, enabling them to further explore outside the parameters of the course.

Course includes: Importing, creating and saving files and documents, The Lightroom and Photoshop interfaces and basic image adjustments, Using Lightroom pre-sets, creating custom pre-sets, Photoshop tools and brushes and Preparing images for print and web, and using Photoshop in conjunction with Lightroom.

How will the course be delivered?

Through classroom based activities alongside a tutor and other delegates at a similar level.

Course Entry Criteria

There is no entry criteria for this course but an interest in the subject would be advisable. Access to the software would be of benefit.

The college operates a no refunds policy as detailed below. Cancellations and transfer requests are subject to the following conditions:

• More than 4 weeks notice – no charge
• 4 weeks notice – 30% of the cost
• 2-3 weeks notice – 50% of the cost
• 1-2 weeks notice – 75% of the cost
• Less than 1 weeks notice – 100% of the cost

All cancellations must be made in writing and are subject to a £10 administration charge. The full fee’s policy is available on request.

What will I get at the end of the course?

You will receive a Blackburn College Certificate of attendance upon successful completion of the training.
