This qualification is for staff carrying out Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) roles within their organisation with the opportunity to develop and improve their practice as well as achieving a professional qualification for their role.

Assurance of Assessment Processes & Practice
A knowledge-only Award for those who are starting their journey as
an IQA practitioner or for those who need to know about IQA but who
are not carrying out quality assurance themselves i.e. experienced
assessors or centre managers, HR staff or Quality Assurance
personnel. The unit will cover the following:
• Understand the context and principles of IQA
• Understand how to plan the IQA of assessment
• Understand techniques and criteria for monitoring the quality of
assessment internally
• Understand how to internally maintain and improve the quality of
assessment
• Understand how to manage information relating to the IQA of
assessment
• Understand the legal and good practice requirements for the IQA
of assessment
Upon Completion:
On successful completion of Unit 401 you will gain a City &
Guilds Certificate stating that you have achieved this Award. This
can be credited towards completion of Unit 402 – Internally Assure
the Quality of Assessment module (see below).
Unit 402 – Internally Assure the Quality of
Assessment
This unit is for practitioners who conduct IQA of the assessment
process from within a Centre or Organisation by sample planning,
monitoring, supporting and giving feedback on the practice of
assessors. Upon completion of this unit, candidates will:
• Be able to plan the IQA of assessment
• Be able to Internally evaluate the quality of assessment
• Be able to Internally maintain and improve the quality of
assessment
• Be able to manage information relevant to the IQA of
assessment
• Be able to maintain legal and good practice requirements when
internally monitoring and maintaining the quality of assessment
Unit 401 – This is a distance learning package. You will be provided with a support assessor who will contact you via e-mail and telephone. The course will be completed via our Virtual Learning Environment – Moodle.
Unit 402 – Assessment methods include observation of performance in the work environment, examining products of work, questioning the learner, discussions with the learner, use of others (witness testimony), looking at learner statements and recognising prior learning

Entry Requirements:
There are no formal entry requirements however it is the
responsibility of the Organisation funding the candidate to:
1. Ensure that they have the necessary skills and opportunities to gain the qualification successfully.
2. Ensure that they meet the specific requirements of the assessment strategy relating to the units and qualifications they are working with (i.e. a candidate must have the relevant qualification/experience appertaining to their specific vocational area).
3. Have access to two qualified assessors (each with two learners whom they are assessing) who are working within their workplace or a workplace that the candidate can get access too (unfortunately the College cannot provide this provision). The assessors must be working within the same vocational area as the verifier.
Applications will be accepted from candidates over the age of 19 years of age (stipulated by City & Guilds).
The college operates a no refunds policy as detailed below. Cancellations and transfer requests are subject to the following conditions:
• More than 4 weeks notice – no charge
• 4 weeks notice – 30% of the cost
• 2-3 weeks notice – 50% of the cost
• 1-2 weeks notice – 75% of the cost
• Less than 1 weeks notice – 100% of the cost
All cancellations must be made in writing and are subject to a £10 administration charge. The full fee’s policy is available on request.
What will I get at the end of the course?Upon successful completion of Unit 401 you will gain a City & Guilds Certificate stating that you have achieved this Award. This can be credited towards completion of Unit 402 – Internally Assure the Quality of Assessment module.
Upon successful completion of Unit 402 you will gain a City & Guilds Certificate stating that you have achieved this specific Award. This can be credited towards completion of the Unit 403 – Plan, Allocate & Monitor Work in Own Area of Responsibility module. Further details available on our website.

How much does it cost?UNIT 401 – The cost of this specific unit is £200.00 and will include registration with the Awarding Organisation, assessor support via e-mail and telephone and internal quality assurance of your Certification. Unit 401 will take approximately 6 months (maximum) to complete.
UNIT 402 – The cost of this specific unit is £850.00 and will
include registration with the Awarding Organisation, assessor
support via e-mail, telephone and visits (up to a maximum of 10),
and internal quality assurance of your Certification. Unit 402
could take up to 12 months to (maximum) to complete
Units 401 & 402 (joint completion)
We would advise candidates who wish to undertake both units 401 and
402, to apply for these units at the same time, to allow for a more
seamless and dedicated approach from our expert team of assessors.
The total fee for completion of both units 401 and 402 is £1,050.00
