Course content

3 Mandatory units & 2 optional units of The Performing Engineering Operations level 1 NVQ see units below.

  • Working safely in an engineering environment
  • Working efficiently and effectively in engineering
  • Using and communicating technical information
  • Making components using hand tools and fitting techniques
  • Assembling electronic circuits

2 Functional Skills Mathematics English

Entry Requirements

No formal qualifications needed, entry will be by initial assessment and interview. The course is open to any candidate who is assessed to be working at Entry Level 3 or above (an online test is required). A satisfactory reference from school or employer will also be required. Enthusiasm and a will to succeed will be an advantage.

Delivery & Assessment methods

Competence is proven by performing a series of practical activities in the workshop. Assessment is by continuous observation of these activities with a portfolio which includes underpinning knowledge assessed by verbal questioning. No exams are required.

Progression

Level 2 Engineering Apprentice, or other Level 2 Engineering qualification.
