The aim of this course is to ensure learners understand types of animation and their uses and develop the knowledge and skills required to use software techniques to design and implement different types of animation

Course content

Students will be introduced to different computer animation software and will develop the techniques to produce computer animation

  • The origins of animation and investigate the traditional techniques e.g. Claymation to create animation.
  • The uses of animation e.g.: advertising; creative arts; entertainment; education e.g. scientific visualisation; others e.g. simulations (military training, architecture, etc.)

  • How to use the tools such as frames, layers, controls, tweening in Flash to create animation etc.

Entry Requirements

None but it would be an advantage to have up to level 2 IT knowledge.

Delivery & Assessment methods

Classes will take place in IT rooms where you can develop practical computer animation skills. You will produce an assignment with given scenario at the end of the course.
