Accounting - (AAT 2/3 Fast track)

The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification gives you practical, internationally recognised finance and accounting skills which can open doors for you in any industry across the world.

Course content

The subjects covered include those skills relevant to finance officer/book-keeper roles.

• Preparing and reconciling the cash book and petty cash books
• Processing business transactions and extracting a trial balance
• Preparing journals, control accounts and suspense accounts
• Preparation of profit and loss accounts and balance sheets for sole traders and partnerships
• Cost accounting
• Using costing information for short term and long term decision making
• Computerised accounting
• Ethics in an accounting environment
• Spreadsheet preparation

This is a very demanding course which includes the completion of the Level 2 Certificate in Accounting followed by the Level 3 Diploma in Accounting. Students are expected to attend all sessions over the year. Students will also be expected to undertake homework and self study outside the classroom. Lessons will be accommodated within three working days per week.

Delivery & Assessment methods

Assessment is via computer based examinations carried out on a regular basis throughout the academic year.

Progression

The Certificate and Diploma in Accounting are qualifications in their own right. Students may progress onto the Level 4 Diploma in Accounting after completion of this course. Once all three stages of the AAT qualification have been completed along with a period of working within an accounting environment, students may apply for full professional membership of the AAT.
