Access to HE-Health & Social Care Professions

This course is an Ascentis recognised Access to HE award which gives individuals, with significant experience outside of formal education, the opportunity to enter higher education to train for a career in health-related professions.

Entry Requirements

The course is aimed at individuals with significant experience outside of formal education. Entry to the course is through an interview and initial assessment to establish that students will benefit and succeed on to the course. Furthermore, students must be able to demonstrate (at interview) their commitment to the course indicating, for example, how they will achieve excellent attendance and punctuality (90% and above). The course is a Level 3 programme of study and students will be required to spend at least 20 hours per week of independent study time outside of the classroom environment. It is also advisable for students to undertake work experience in a health- related work environment prior to commencing study.

Delivery & Assessment methods

Assessment is by assignments for some units and some units will be by end of year examinations.

Progression

Most students progress to degrees in health-related professions including nursing and midwifery.
