*Students who have certificates which demonstrate that they have achieved English, Science and Maths at ‘O’ Level/GCSE may be exempt from these subjects.

Entry Requirements

The Course is aimed at individuals with significant experience outside of formal education. Entry to the course is through an interview and initial assessment to establish that students will benefit and succeed on to the course. Furthermore, students must be able to demonstrate (at interview) their commitment to the course indicating, for example, how they will achieve excellent attendance and punctuality (90% and above). The course is a Level 3 programme of study and students will be required to spend at least 20 hours per week of independent study time outside of the classroom environment. It is also advisable for students to undertake work experience in a health- related work environment prior to commencing study.

Delivery & Assessment methods

This is a full time programme and learners should be aware that classes can normally be at any time between 9am and 5.00pm, Monday to Friday. You will be expected to attend for 15 hours per week for the main programme. (*additional hours may be necessary for the study of English and/or Maths). You will have free periods throughout the week which may mean that some days you may start later and/or finish earlier.

Progression

Most students progress to degrees in health-related professions including Nursing and Midwifery.
