Edexcel BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Agriculture
Each student is required to attend for one day a week.
Year 12 and 13 students starting in September 2012 will attend on a Monday or Tuesday from 9.15am – 4.50pm.
Course DescriptionThe aim is to meet the needs of learners who work or wish to
work in the agriculture industry and to allow the students to
learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment or
career progression in the agriculture sector. We use naturally
occurring opportunities and encourage involvement at busy times on
the units such as lambing and calving times.

Functional Skills
You will also gain nationally recognised functional skills
qualifications (English, Maths and ICT). In addition Emergency
First Aid plus one other legislative or nationally recognised
occupational test relevant to the industry will be completed.
The teaching of these subjects will be a combination of both theory and practical sessions as well as independent research.
Assessment strategies will consist of written evidence, research, reports, practical assessments and presentations.
ProgressionSuccessful learners may progress to a Higher Education programme or employment.
The BTEC Subsidiary Diploma earns UCAS Tariff points which combined with A levels can gain entrance into University.
All progression routes are reliant on the student achieving certain levels in Literacy and Numeracy.
