Course DescriptionThe course is directed at qualified and competent plumbing and heating engineers looking to gain the knowledge and skills to install and maintain solar thermal hot water systems and those who want to progress in the building services sector to work with a range of environmental technologies.
This qualification equips existing workers with the skills to install solar thermal hot water systems, designed to work in tandem with existing water heating systems to reduce fuel costs and help to reduce CO2 emissions. Health and safety
- Regulations and standards
- Types and layouts
- Components of the system and their purpose, selection and sizing
- Performance of the systems
- Planning and preparation for the installation of an active solar thermal hot water system
- Installation of solar thermal hot water system components
- Testing and commissioning of an active solar thermal hot water system
- Handover of an active solar thermal hot water system
With demand growing for qualified installers, this course will assist the growth and security of your business and, once completed it can lead to progression onto further renewable technology qualifications.
- N/SVQ LEVEL 2/3 in Plumbing or equivalent earlier certification that provides evidence of competence; or
- N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Heating and Ventilating (Domestic Installation) or equivalent earlier certification that provides evidence of competence; or
- N/SVQ LEVEL 2/3 in Heating Ventilating (Industrial and commercial installation)or equivalent earlier certification that provides evidence of competence; or
- N/SVQ LEVEL 2/3 in Oil Fired Technical Services or equivalent earlier certification that provides evidence of competence; or
- N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Gas Installation and Maintenance or equivalent earlier certification that provides evidence of competence.
In addition, if not included in the above, current certification in relation to: Water Regulations/Water Byelaws (WRAS or equivalent); Energy Efficiency for Domestic Heating (C&G 6084 or equivalent); Unvented Domestic Hot Water Storage Systems.
Course includes lunch and refreshments. We will also issue a free memory stick containing all course materials.
