Course Description

The course is directed at qualified and competent plumbing and heat engineers looking to gain the knowledge and skills to install and maintain rainwater harvesting and grey water re-use systems and those who want to progress in the building services sector to work with a range of environmental technologies.

This qualification equips existing workers with the skills to install and maintain rainwater harvesting and grey water re-use systems, capable of collecting and storing rainwater and grey water to supplement mains and supplies and drastically reduce bills. The qualification will also help learners to provide best advice to customers on the use of water harvesting and re-use systems.

You will learn through a series of demonstrations, alongside both theoretical and practical sessions, carried out in a dedicated workshop in the new, purpose-built Bicton EaRTH centre, with the emphasis being on practical activities.

Trade professionals with the latest working knowledge will equip you with the knowledge and skills required to install, commission and handover rainwater harvesting and grey water re-use systems, including:

  • Heath and safety
  • Regulations and standards
  • Types and layouts
  • Components of the systems and their purpose, selection and sizing
  • Performance of the systems
  • Planning and preparation for the installation of an active rainwater harvesting and grey water re-use system
  • Installation of rainwater harvesting and grey water re-use systems components
  • Testing and commission of active rainwater and grey water re-use systems
  • Handover of an active rainwater harvesting and grey water re-use systems

With demand growing for qualified installers, this course will assist the growth and security of your business and, once completed it can lead to progression onto further renewable technology qualifications.

  • N/SVQ LEVEL 2/3 in Plumbing or equivalent earlier certification that provides evidence of competence; or
  • N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Heating and Ventilating (Domestic Installation) or equivalent earlier certification that provides evidence of competence; or
  • N/SVQ LEVEL 2/3 in Heating Ventilating (Industrial and commercial installation) or equivalent earlier certification that provides evidence of competence; or
  • N/SVQ LEVEL 2/3 in Oil Fired Technical Services or equivalent earlier certification that provides evidence of competence; or
  • N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Gas Installation and Maintenance or equivalent earlier certification that provides evidence of competence.
  • In addition, if not included in the above, current certification in relation to Water Regulations/Water Byelaws (WRAS or equivalent)

Course includes lunch and refreshments. We will also issue a free memory stick containing all course materials.
