In addition, it would be helpful if you have the following:
- GCSEs at grades A-C in English and Maths or equivalent
- A good reference
The content of each course will focus on:
- Agricultural machinery
- Brakes and steering
- Clutches and transmissions including manual, power shift and hydrostatic
- Construction plant machinery
- Electrics and electronics
- Engines
- Ground care machinery
- Health and safety
- Hydraulics
- Welding and fabrication
Functional Skills
You will also work towards nationally recognised Functional Skills qualifications (English, Maths and ICT).
Assessment
For both courses, this will consist of a combination of college and
work-based practical assessments, written and oral engineering
knowledge tests and essential skills assignments.
Apprentices can progress to the Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3 course, or to full-time study on an Extended Diploma in Land-based Technology programme. Many apprentices gain permanent employment with engineering firms.
