Who is this course for? English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) for young adults aged 16 - 18. Study English, Maths, IT, Science and Sport. What qualifications or experience do I need ? There are no formal entry requirements but you must be a permanent resident, refugee or asylum seeker and aged between 16 and 18 at the start of the course. What will I study ? The course is full-time, studying 13 hours a week. ESOL is studied for 7.5 hours (with tutorials), and other subjects for 5 - 6 hours. In addition, the enrichment programme has a trip out every term (eg. ice skating, museum, horse-riding, London Eye) and a party twice a year. How will I be assessed ? Assessment will be through: * Initial: Interview & written test. * On course: Continuous classroom assessment. * Ed-Excel examinations from Entry 1 to Level 2 What qualifications could I achieve ? Ed-Excel Certificate in Reading, Writing, Speaking & Listening, Maths, ICT, PSD What can the course lead to ? Students starting at Entry 1 level can progress to the next level. Entry 2 and Entry 3 students can progress to ESOL Vocational courses the following year, which include: Beauty, Childcare, Health and Social Care, IT and Creative Media, Hospitality and Science. After applying for the course you will have an interview and complete a reading and writing test to check your level of English. Further Information All students will have a named tutor who will advise and monitor progress in language learning and advise students on how to make the most of their classes. Students can be referred to Student Services for assistance, guidance or support.
