Who is this course for? Students who wish to follow a vocational study option in Construction. What qualifications or experience do I need ? There are no formal entry requirements for this course, but students should display Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy capabilities What will I study ? This is a practical work-related course for those interested in acquiring skills in Construction. The course enables students to begin to develop practical skills in painting and decorating, Carpentry, Brickwork, Rendering/Plastering. Not all sessions will be practical. The course enables students to begin to develop practical skills in painting and decorating, Carpentry, Brickwork, Rendering/Plastering. Not all sessions will be practical. There is also a strong emphasis on health and safety and team working. The course takes place Monday/Friday at Barnet College. How will I be assessed ? Assessment will be by demonstration of practical skills and the building of a portfolio of evidence. What qualifications could I achieve ? Level 1 Certificate in Basic Construction Skills What can the course lead to ? Students who successfully complete this programme, may then choose to apply to study one or maybe two of the following subject (painting and decorating, Carpentry, Brickwork, Rendering/Plastering) full time at the college with a view to a career in the Construction areas. How do I join the course ? Apply on line or enrol at one of our open events. You will then be invited in for an interview and given a start date. Are there any extra costs for equipment/materials ? You will be required to purchase safety boots.
