Those who are returning to study after some time are encouraged to apply as Access programmes develop confidence and give you the skills and knowledge you will need at university. What qualifications or experience do I need ? We welcome students who are: * 19 years of age and over * Good communicators and have numerical skills * Interested in Science and have a desire for a Science based career. As this is a very demanding course, it is essential that applicants are highly motivated to go on to further studies and possess excellent study skills. Students must pass the diagnostic exercise in communications and numerical skills to join this course. What will I study ? The programme content is: Major subjects: * Biology * Chemistry Supported by: * Maths, * Physics, *Communications, IT and study skills are developed through the 4 subjects and in tutorials. Content is broken down into units and assessed continuously. Tutorials support the student progress and in particular support them during their application into Higher Education. How will I be assessed ? Assessment is through: * Coursework * Short tests * Terminal exams * Practical write-ups * Essays - short-structured questions * Exam units at the end of the course. What qualifications could I achieve ? You will achieve the nationally recognised Access to Higher Education Diploma (Science) accredited by the awarding organisation OCN London You will achieve the nationally recognised Access to Higher Education Diploma (Science) accredited by the awarding organisation OCN London What can the course lead to ? On successful completion of this course, students are able to progress on to higher education and advance in a wide range of courses, including those in science, health care and complementary medicine. This course helps develop skills and attitudes to cope with study in the Higher Education environment. How do I join the course ? Please complete an enrolment form when you come into an Open Evening or to part-time enrolment. Will I need an interview ? Yes. Interview includes a diagnostic exercise. Are there any extra costs for equipment/materials ? During your course there may be some additional costs for essential books.
