What will I study?
The unitImproving productivity using ICT Level 2 is worth 4 credits. The focus of this unit is on the skills and knowledge needed by the IT User to plan and review their use of predefined or commonly used IT tools for activities that are at times non-routine or unfamiliar. As a result of reviewing their work, they will be able to identify and use automated methods or alternative ways of working to improve productivity.
How is the course taught?
A range of practical activities will be set to develop knowledge, skills and understanding.
How will I be assessed?
The unit will be locally assessed and externally moderated by OCR.
By the end of the course what vocational skills will I obtain?
Plan, select and use appropriate IT systems and software for different purposes
Review and adapt the ongoing use of IT tools and systems to make sure that activities are successful
Develop and test solutions to improve the ongoing use of IT tools and systems
What materials do I need for the course?
You need a pen; A4 sized ruled sheets of paper and a memory stick. As you will be given regular
homework it is expected that you have access to a personal computer that is Internet enabled.
What courses can I progress to after successfully completing this one?
Complete further relevant units to achieve the Level 2 Certificate
What work-place skills does this course equip me with?
Use ICT in a range of contexts to improve the productivity and efficiency of work activities.

- aged 16-18 years old on an accredited course
- on Job Seeker's Allowance or on Employment Support Allowance (Work-Related Activity Group)
- unemployed and in receipt of a means tested benefit (or are dependent of someone who is unemployed and in receipt of a means tested benefit) and sign a Declaration of Intention to enter employment
- aged 19-23 studying for a first full Level 2 qualification and do not already have a full Level 2 qualification or equivalent
- aged 19-24 studying for a first full Level 3 qualification and you do not already have a full Level 3 qualification or equivalent
- studying GCSE English or maths and do not already have a grade C or above
- studying an accredited English or maths course
- studying an entry or Level 1 accredited course and are aged 19-23 and have prior attainment below full Level 2. (This does not apply to ESOL courses)
- taking part in a Family Learning activity

Exam fees are non-refundable and payable at enrolment. In some cases exam fees are to be confirmed.
