Level 1 Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery

Introduction

This carpentry and joinery course is for you if you want to learn the basic skills required in this specialist trade to enable you to seek a job in the industry. At this level, you do not need experience, just enthusiasm and commitment to learn and undertake a range of small projects.

What Will I Learn

This course will help to develop the skills employers in industry are looking for such as technical and practical skills, problem solving, numeracy, literacy, team working and communication.

How Will I Be Assessed?

Progress and achievement is recorded throughout the year via practical assessments, theory assessments, external tests and a practical synoptic assignment.

Entry Requirements

You must have a minimum of four GCSEs including English and Maths, and show a genuine interest in the Carpentry and Joinery industry. Entry is also subject to an interview, basic skills screening and an initial assessment.

Upon successful completion, you may proceed onto the Level 2 Diploma in Bench Joinery or Site Carpentry.
