MIXED MEDIA WORKSHOP
This product does not have fixed starting dates and/or places.
The course will look at experimenting with backgrounds, and how
different mediums work to produce a final painting by the end of
the day.
Produce a series of experiments with different mediums
Create a small experiment of your final piece.
Develop a background, using colour and tissue paper
Paint foreground using ink and experimenting with abstract shapes
and blown effects.
Varnish part or all of the completed painting
Expand and add to the mediums at your disposal for creating
images
Discuss ideas and progress on your own initiatives.
Gain a wider art vocabulary

Who is the course for?
This course is for mixed abilities: all levels whether beginners
who would like to experiment with different mediums, up to more
advanced students who want to combine their skills with different
mediums
What is your approach?
The day will be workshop style with group discussion and some
demonstrations or presentations from the tutor, which will enable
the individuals within the group to either use the techniques that
are being demonstrated or to use their own initiative to follow the
skills that they wish to learn. In this way the classes can be used
by the individual in order to grow in their knowledge or to expand
on the skills and interests that they already have.
One to one feedback will be give during the course.
You will review your own progress through the work produced in your
sketchbook and portfolio.

What will I need?
To create your experiments, you will need;
A sketchbook and thick watercolour paper,
Watercolours,
Acrylics,
Sketching pencils,
Coloured / watercolour pencils
Drawing pens
Masking tape
For your main piece;
Equipment can be purchased from the tutor for £12 for the whole
set.
It will include, Canvas support, acrylic inks, tissue paper, PVA
and ‘Golden gel medium – clear gel’.
Are there any other costs?
See above for necessary equipment to complete a final piece during
the session.
