What is the course about?The main emphasis will be on speaking and listening, but the
course will also develop reading and writing skills. The structure
of the language is introduced through everyday topics and practical
situations. There will be opportunities to learn more about the
culture and customs of countries where the language is spoken.
The content and outcomes of the course will be discussed with you
and may be adapted to meet your needs and those of the group. As a
guide, by the end of the course you should be able to:

Who is the course for?
The course aims to develop communication skills in basic,
practical situations. It is for students who can already understand
some familiar words or phrases.
Who is the course for and what level is it?
This is a continuation course for Q1225C or those of a similar
level.
This course is designed to improve and sustain your language skills
keeping your mind active and alert.
You should already have a little prior knowledge of the language,
or have attended a taster or holiday course. If you are unsure of
your level, please contact your local centre for further
assistance. Diagnostic self-assessment sheets are available from
the centres and at the website address above.
What is your approach?
Working individually, in pairs, small groups, or as a whole
class, you will take part in a range of activities, such as
interactive games, quizzes, listening exercises, pronunciation
practice and roleplay. You will be encouraged to use the target
language as much as possible. To help your progress, you will have
the opportunity to do homework on a regular basis.

What will I need?
You will have an opportunity to maintain an Individual Learning
Plan and your tutor will discuss your progress and achievement with
you throughout the course.
What will I need for the first session?
Bring along a pen and some paper. We recommend having a folder or
ring binder for the course.
Are there any other costs?
At the first session your tutor will advise you about the purchase
of a textbook and/or dictionary.
