You’ll be encouraged to explore how it is used to communicate through spoken and written texts, ranging from marketing and television to children’s books and ‘lads’ mags’. The different variations of the English language will be analysed, developing your understanding and appreciation of English in all its contexts.
How long is the course?
Both the AS and A2 Levels take one year each.How will I be assessed?

A2 pass rate 2012: 100%For the last five years our students have achieved a 100% pass rate for English Language AS and A Level courses. The teaching staff for this course have many years of experience working in education and teaching English as a foreign language in other countries.
What will I study?
Key topics will include children’s language, original writing and language and society. You can expect to develop your skills as a writer, take part in language research and analyse spoken and written texts as part of your A Level study.

Entry requirements
You must possess five GCSEs at grade C or above, which must include English language and English literature or combined English.

To apply, simply complete the A Levels online application form.You don’t need to apply for each subject area you are interested in. Once we have received your application form we will invite you into college for an interview or audition where we will be able to discuss every aspect of the course you have chosen, as well as any alternatives you may be considering. You will also have the opportunity to visit the areas of the college used for your programme choice.
