Read familiar names, words and very simple sentences, for example
on menus, notices and posters or in catalogues.
Who is the course for?
This course is designed to improve and sustain your language
skills keeping your mind active and alert.
The course is for beginners who have no prior knowledge of the
language as well as for those who can already carry out simple
routine tasks in French. If you are unsure of your level, please
contact your local centre for further assistance. Diagnostic
self-assessment sheets are available from the centres and at the
website address above.
What is your approach?
The course is conducted in French and will provide a highly
stimulating environment. Working individually, in pairs, small
groups, or as a whole class, you will take part in a range of
activities such as interactive games, quizzes, listening exercises,
pronunciation practice and roleplay. You will be encouraged to use
the target language as much as possible.

What will I need?
You will have an opportunity to maintain an Individual Learning
Plan and your tutor will discuss your progress and achievement with
you throughout the course.
What will I need for the first lesson?
Pens, lined paper we recommend having a folder or ring binder for
the course.
Please bring a packed lunch – tea and coffee are available at a
small cost.
Are there any other costs?
At the first session your tutor will advise you about the purchase
of a textbook and/or dictionary.
