Description
What is the course about?Over the 4 weeks students will explore the tools and techniques
used to make hand wired sugar flowers. They will practice cutting
out petals and leaves to create colorful anemones, which they will
also colour, tape and assemble to make a small spray.
The content and outcomes of the course will be discussed with you
and may be adapted to meet your needs and those of the group. By
the end of the course you should be able to:
Identify the correct tools and equipment to create the anemone
flower.
Demonstrate the use of dust colours on petals and leaves.
Demonstrate how to tape petals and leaves.
Assemble flowers, buds and leaves into a small spray.

Who is the course for?
Some previous hand wired sugar flower experience or some cake
decorating experience would be useful for this course.

What is your approach?
The tutor will demonstrate the various techniques and students
will have plenty of opportunity to practice for themselves. The
tutor will be on hand to offer guidance and support. There will
also be a selection of books and magazines to refer to for
decorating ideas.

What will I need?
You will have an opportunity to maintain an Individual Learning
Plan and your tutor will discuss your progress and achievement with
you throughout the course.
What will I need for the first session?
A pen and paper
An apron
White and green flower paste. (The tutor will have some for sale on
the first evening @ £ 1.00)
22, 28 and 30g florist wires (The tutor will have some for sale on
the first evening @ 50p)
A small nonstick board with vein grooves (if you have one)
A small nonstick rolling pin (if you have one)
Cream/white cotton sewing thread.
Small scissors
Wire cutters
Small craft pliers.
Cocktail sticks.
Emery board.
A small cutting wheel
Are there any other costs?
Although specialised equipment is recommended, the tutor does have
some items which students may borrow and share. If you have any
questions regarding the equipment list, please contact the tutor
