Introduction

A practical based course designed for students who have little or no dance experience. Ideal if you are enthusiastic about dance and want to learn new skills.

Course Outline

Unit 1: Critical Appreciation
Students study at least two Professional dance works.
Assessment: Written paper – 1 hour (externally assessed)
50 marks – 20%

Unit 2: Set dance
Students perform a solo dance that will be taught by the teacher and is set by AQA exam board. The style of the dance is Contemporary.
Assessment: Practical Exam (externally assessed)

Assessment: Practical exam (controlled assessment)

Unit 4: Choreography

This unit is in 2 parts.

Part 1 - students learn 3 motifs/phrases that they then develop themselves into a solo performance.

Part 2 - students choreograph a solo/duo or group dance from an idea/theme of their choice.

Assessment:Practical exam (controlled assessment)
Part 1 -  20 marks/15%
Part 2 - 40 marks/25%
