However as economic and environmental conditions in the marketplace become ever more volatile, there is a requirement for the IT professional to grow new and different skill sets to support the organisation's need to become more cost efficient and environmentally aware. Today's IT professional needs to understand and implement green computing methods in order to make the organisation run more efficiently with respect to energy and ICT infrastructure. Coupled with the ever present need to reduce costs and save the organisation money, it is now a legal requirement to have strict policies regarding the proper usage and disposal of IT materials and infrastructure.

In short, the IT professional who ensures the delivery of the organisation's green IT requirements not only plays a vital role in keeping operational costs low, but also ensures compliance with regulatory standards.

This course provides guidance for individuals who wish to deliver an organisation's green IT strategy to ensure the organisation becomes more energy efficient and environmentally responsible.

This is a 2 day Instructor Lead Training Course aimed at:

Information technology (IT) professionals who have decision-making authority for their company's IT infrastructureIT Professionals who do not have significant prior experience or training in green IT-specific standards, technologies, and practices
IT Professionals who are required to deliver sound green IT practices in their organisation

The course prepares the delegate for the CompTIA Green IT Certificate exam. A 30 question, 60 minute online exam (Prometric code FC0-GR1). The required pass score is 21 from 30 (70%)

Prerequisites

  • Working knowledge and hands-on experience with personal computers, client/server network configurations, and computer components, including the ability to install, configure, upgrade, and maintain basic hardware and software components on computers in both desktop/workstation and server roles.
  • Holders of standard technical industry certifications such as CompTIA A and Server
  • Working understanding of network technology

  • Develop a foundation for an effective green IT strategy by describing concepts of green IT and creating a performance baseline.
  • Describe the components that work together in a green infrastructure.
  • Describe the various initiatives to make the best of technologies and reduce power and waste.

This course is complimentary to the ISEB Foundation Certificate in Green IT and it is strongly recommended that delegates who wish to have a further in-depth understanding of the Legal, Social, Political and Environmental as well as Technical factors of Green IT should attend both courses.
