IAB Level 1 Award in Bookkeeping

IAB Level 1 Award in Bookkeeping is a beginner’s course in accounting and aims to provide candidates with the skills to record financial transactions and the competence to carry out a range of day-to-day routine bookkeeping activities. It’s aimed at beginners aiming to start a study of bookkeeping. Owners of small businesses may also find the course useful.

What will I study?

To achieve the IAB Level 1 Award in Bookkeeping qualification, all the mandatory units consisting of 9 credits must be achieved.

• Working within Bookkeeping
• Banking procedures
• Recording receipts and payments
• Preparing and processing book-keeping documents
• Recording Credit transactions
• Making and receiving payments
• Maintaining petty cash records

Progression

On completion of this qualification candidates may progress into employment or to the following qualifications:

• IAB Level 2 Award in Computerised Bookkeeping
