Developing and maintaining effective and productive work teams is a key responsibility of a manager’s role. Understanding how people like to work helps the manager to allocate work and develop and motivate staff. This day session is based on the work of Margerison and McCann and provides a practical overview of their Team Management Wheel. This model developed over 25 years ago after extensive research, is designed to explore the key work areas for productive teams and identify the major roles that each team member prefers to play to ensure the success of the team.
Each delegate will complete a questionnaire before the event which explores the following:
- How you prefer to relate with others
- How you prefer to gather and use information
- How you prefer to take decisions
- How you prefer to organise yourself and others
This will produce a Team Management Profile which will give insight into how you prefer to work and how you are likely to interact with others in the workplace. It provides information which can help to identify strengths and weaknesses and gives teams a framework and a common language for working together more effectively.
Whilst managers attending this session will primarily gain insight into their own work preferences and the implications of that for their teams, it is possible to access this tool on a bespoke basis through Salford professional Development.
