Aims
Routine Newborn & Infant Examination is an integral part of the safety and well-being of newborns and infants.By checking for issues early, healthcare practitioners can establish whether a course of action is required to ensure patient safety and avoid complications. The UK National Screening Committee has identified a core list of issues that are to be prioritised when it comes to newborn and infant healthcare, these include:
- Congenital heart disease
- Developmental hip dysplasia
- Congenital cataract
- Undescended testes
