Aims

A CPD day running concurrently in the Masters Programme Advancing Physio module Manual therapy.

To provide practitioners with advanced manual therapy skills in the assessment and management of neuro-musculoskeletal disorders of the spine and peripheral joints.

  • To demonstrate effective manual therapy mobilisations with movement techniques to commonly presenting peripheral conditions
  • To demonstrate effective clinical reasoning and an evidence based approach to manual therapy application and progression
  • To review current evidence based practice with regards to efficacy, contraindications and risk assessment
  • To be able to apply the techniques with clinical reasoning to a number of clinical scenarios.

Summary

The day has a large practical component following demonstration of techniques, students will have plenty of time to practice mobilisations on their peers and receive tutor feedback. Students will also be allowed time to discuss and clinically reason the most appropriate techniques with progression to a number of clinical cases. The presentation with photographs of techniques and clinical scenarios will be provided on the day. Practical dress is essential.
