Contract Law and Intellectual Property Law for Professionals

Aims

This course introduces professionals to the fundamentals of contract law. Participants will also have the opportunity to look at the different types of terms of a contract and consider the impact of pre-contractual negotiations. In addition there is an overview of commonly used intellectual property provisions in contracts. 

On completion participants will have an understanding of the basic principles of contract law that underpin all contractual arrangements.  They will also appreciate the care needed in conducting pre-contractual negotiations and the different forms that contracts can take.  Alongside this knowledge, participants will be able to recognise the nature and importance of different types of contract term as well as having an awareness of intellectual property issues in contractual dealings and common types of terms in contracts dealing with the assignment of such rights.
