The overall aim of this programme is to provide general-level pharmacists, registered with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain and working within the NHS, with the core skills and competencies required to provide holistic pharmaceutical care in the practice setting. This programme is now available to both hospital and community pharmacists.

The programme aligns with a nationally agreed pharmacy practitioner development strategy and is the result of a unique collaboration of higher education institutions across London and the south and east of England.

The programme works on a philosophy of student-centered workplace learning, supported by workbooks and learning sets facilitated by experienced pharmacy practitioners. The practitioner students are expected to take responsibility for managing their learning and achieving the course objectives in support of their Continuing Professional Development.
