Recent global phenomena such as increased migration, demographic change, epidemiological transition, globalisation, the development of digital communications networks and political conflict around the world have contributed to an increasing need to understand the international context of public health for practitioners in the UK and abroad.
By providing a multi-disciplinary approach to the study of international health this programme aims to meet the need for UK-based practitioners and students of public health to understand the international influences on public health in the UK and abroad. The programme also provides an opportunity for international students and practitioners to study, analyse and critically evaluate public health challenges in their own region and within an international context.
Resources and facilitiesA feature of this programme is the inclusion of international associates based in Brazil, USA and Kyrgyzstan within our core team. Our international associates have worked with us on various research and development programmes in recent years and have generously offered to support your learning during this programme by contribution to online discussion forums and providing support for students studying topics linked to their geographical, professional or academic experiences.
International associates will primarily contribute via online forums and discussions but may also contribute to classroom-based study during research visits to the university in the future. Their contribution also provides you with access to an international multi-professional, multi-cultural academic expert community.
