Students with other qualifications may be admitted to the course via APL procedures

More about levels and credits

Credit and UCAS requirements Credit: 120 credits Selection criteria

You must be current on the Health Professional register or equivalent as a Paramedic and have regular access to an advanced practice environment.

You will need evidence of successful study at level 5, or equivalent, within the last 5 years, and hold a first degree.

Your application needs to be supported by a statement from your current employer. Prior to commencing the course you will need to have in place a satisfactory enhanced CRB check.

You will be interviewed for selection for this programme by a member of the programme team; this will be conducted by telephone. Please note this course is subject to validation, and details may change.

  • NMLB 6152 Health Assessment (20 credits)
  • NMLB 6126 Contemporary Issues in Pre-hospital Care (20 credits)
  • NMLB 6260 Clinical Judgement and Decision Making (40 credits)

Course summary

This course is offered by distance learning, there is no requirement to attend the University. However should you choose an optional module with attendance, you may need to attend.

This programme builds on the success of the BSc (Hons) Emergency Practitioner and the BSc (Hons)/Graduate Diploma: Advanced Paramedic Practitioner which was developed in collaboration with local trusts to meet the educational needs of paramedics. It is benchmarked against the Skills for Health Competency & Curriculum Framework for Emergency Care Practitioners (DoH 2007) and the competencies identified by the Royal College of Nursing for Advanced Nurse Practitioners (RCN, 2008).
