Industrial Management - Associate Study Module [Level HE7] part-time

This module introduces the main areas of management in an industrial environment, with particular reference to small and medium size enterprises operating in the microelectronics sector. It is intended for people interested in moving into management or who have recently taken on a management role. It is also intended for those people who are managed, who should appreciate the role of the manager and understand the interface between the manager and themselves. It is particularly relevant to engineers working in industry especially those employed in the electronics sector.

During the module the relationship between company function and the management process is stressed, as is the interaction between managers and personnel working in different departments within the company and external to it, such as customers, suppliers and competitors. Although the module is intended for management in an electronics environment, the concepts developed in the module may be applied to a wide range of industrial and commercial situations.

You will develop an appreciation of the skills relevant to the management of an engineering or technologically based business. The module can be studied on its own or as part of a programme leading to a formal qualification.
