Finance for Managers Advanced Professional Development [Level 7] part-time

This course will enhance your expertise and understanding in regard to the financial aspects underpinning the management of organisations and supply chains. It will give you the skills and knowledge to judge the financial performance of companies and operations; make decisions on investment in new systems, facilities, plant and machinery; understand the relationship between cost and price; calculate appropriate prices for products and services; and develop and manage budgets.

This is a practical course and most of your learning will be based around case studies, ensuring it is closely linked to real and current practices in the business world. You will study the full range of finance subjects including: management accounting; capital expenditure; investment appraisal; whole life cycle costing; pricing strategies; target costing; financial risk and all aspects of budgeting.

You will learn through a variety of methods including lectures, seminars and presentations, practical work, e-learning, workshops, tutorials, study groups, videos, independent study, directed reading and research. You will be assessed on the basis of a case study report and a written exam.

In addition to learning a range of key financial skills, the course will support the development of your personal skills in critical thinking and evaluation, organisation, time management, IT and communication skills.
