This 2.5 hour course is designed for people who have to use an extinguisher in hotels, offices, shops and industrial premises or residential care homes.

Summary of course content/overview

The course will cover:

• Understanding of fire
• How a fire develops and spreads
• Main causes of fire within the workplace
• Hands on practical fire extinguisher training using real extinguishers on real fires in 5 different scenarios within a safe and controlled environment

Benefits of attending

Staff will have greater fire safety awareness and increased confidence in the action to take in case of a fire occurring. Delegates will learn about the theory of combustion, causes of fire and the correct and safe way to fight fire. Candidates will use a live fire training unit to learn how to use fire extinguishers correctly and safely.

This course is approved by the Institute of Fire Engineers.
