This postgraduate diploma course is designed to develop your abilities to tackle complex situations.
The optional course modules give you the opportunity to pursue topics of personal or professional interest as a wider context for your systems thinking studies. Typically the options offered are in the fields of business and management, environmental management, development management, information systems and technology management.

Time required and cost
To achieve the Postgraduate Diploma in Systems Thinking in Practice you must successfully gain 120 credits. The qualification typically takes two years to complete based on 12-16 hours of study each week. We strongly recommend that you do not take more than 60 credits of study in any 12-month period.

Entry Requirements
To study for this postgraduate diploma you must hold a bachelors degree from a UK university or other recognised degree-awarding body, or a qualification at equivalent level.
If you do not hold a bachelors degree then you may be permitted to link modules to this qualification once you have demonstrated the ability to study at postgraduate level by successfully completing one of the modules.
You should note that the University’s unique study rule applies to this qualification. This means that you must include at least 40 credits from OU modules that have not been counted in any other OU qualification that has previously been awarded to you.
You will also need to be proficient in English, to an IELTS standard of 6.0. If you are unsure you will be able to take a free English test as part of the registration process.
Classification of course
On successful completion of the required modules you can be awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Systems Thinking in Practice entitling you to use the letters PG Dip SysPrac (Open) after your name.
You may continue your studies and add a further 60 credits to your postgraduate diploma to gain an MSc in Systems Thinking in Practice.
