This postgraduate certificate course provides a rounded view of technology management from an operational perspective. The compulsory module covers topics such as the management of technological innovation and technical projects, relevant to all economic sectors and types of technology. The study of one or more optional modules allows you to extend your technology management knowledge and skills in directions of particular personal or professional interest.
The modules are designed to be relevant whatever your personal background and experience – the knowledge and skills taught can be applied to all types of technology and all economic sectors. Students from a wide range of backgrounds including IT, manufacturing, healthcare, defence, financial services, local and national government services take this certificate course.

Time required and cost
To achieve the Postgraduate Certificate in Technology Management you must gain 60 credits. The qualification typically takes one year to complete based on 12-16 hours of study each week.
The cost depends on the number of credits you study in a year, which depends on the modules you choose. Fees for 2013/14 have yet to be confirmed.
NB: Optional modules T824, T826, T827 and T828 all include compulsory day schools held in the UK only, and that this will incur additional costs for travel and subsistence.

Career impact
The technology management programme develops analytical skills and provides practically relevant knowledge that will be useful in a variety of management and leadership roles. The course will equip you with research and problem-solving skills that can be used at all management levels in all professional situations. You will develop a range of job-related and transferable skills such as critical thinking, creative problem solving, and the ability to cope with rapid technological change.

Entry requirements
To study for this postgraduate certificate you must hold a bachelors degree from a UK university or other recognised degree-awarding body, or a qualification at equivalent level.
You will also need to be proficient in English, to an IELTS standard of 6.0. If you are unsure you will be able to take a free English test as part of the registration process.
Classification of course
On successful completion of the required modules, you can be awarded a Postgraduate Certificate in Technology Management entitling you to use the letters PGC (Tech Mgmt) (Open) after your name.
You can continue your studies and add 60 credits to your postgraduate certificate to gain a Postgraduate Diploma in Technology Management and a further 60 credits to obtain an MSc Technology Management.
