These foundation learning tier courses provide the progression pathways for young people who have yet to achieve the required grades to study fully and as independent learners in their chosen vocational area. In addition the skills developed will help to enable young people to enter adult life as confident and capable individuals.

These nationally accredited qualifications help to motivate and reward learners by formally recognising their achievements.

Entry Requirements:

Interview required

A willingness to succeed and improve grades. Students entering this programme will need to have achieved at entry 2 or successful achievement on the stepping on programme.

Assessment:

The course is assessed through a range of methods that include project work, assignments and the compilation of a portfolio. All work is internally verified and subject to external verification by the relevant awarding bodies.

Progression from this course:

On successful completion and reaching the required grades, students are then able to apply for interview in their chosen vocational pathway, other relevant programmes of further study, or move to supported employment.

Course Costs:

All students on full-time courses will need to pay a materials / resources fee. Details will be provided before enrolment. If you are under 19 on 31st August in the year you begin your programme, you will not have to pay tuition or registration fees for your course. For students aged 19 or over, there will be a tuition fee (depends on the course) for each year of the course as well as a registration fee (which includes exam fees). However, many students will be eligible for reduced fees and / or financial support towards the costs. Click here for detailed information.
