Description
The course is aimed at those who wish to pursue a career in plumbing.
The course provides you with underpinning knowledge, examined through online tests and practical assessments, on topics, such as Health & Safety, Environmental Protection Measures, Plumbing Science, Pipework Fabrication, Cold Water, Hot Water, Rainwater, Domestic Central Heating and Above Ground Drainage.
You will also be examined by your course tutor in the workplace, with regular on-site assessments.
In addition, you will also undertake an Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR) test and Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT (if applicable)

Entry Requirements:
Interview required
You will be assessed for your potential to
achieve the apprenticeship. The assessment will depend upon the
level and range of activities you will be undertaking in the
workplace.
You may need to undergo an initial assessment of your English and
maths skills in which you are required to be working at or towards
level 2.
You have to pass the BPEC (British Plumbers Employers Council)
training test at 60% and it is recommended that you have gained a
minimum of 4 GCSE grades at D and above (or equivalent).
At the start of your apprenticeship programme you will need to be
employed by a suitable and appropriate employer for at least 16
hours a week. You will also need to have been a resident in the EU
for at least 3 years.
Commitment and motivation are necessary to complete the course.
Assessment:
Assessments and portfolio building in the workplace and college, online testing and exams.
Progression from this course:
Progression onto NVQ/Diploma Level 3 Plumbing or an advanced apprenticeship.

Course Costs:
There are currently no fees payable by young people on Apprenticeship programmes. Fees may be payable by the employer where the candidate is 19 or older. Details available on request.
The apprentice is expected to purchase the Heinemann NVQ Level 2 Plumbing text book (approx £25).
