End Qualification:
College certificate
Entry Requirements:
Interview required
There are no entry requirements for a bespoke course however these courses are designed to help those that are not suited to a formal curriculum offer within the college. Therefore, a substantial interview and transition programme would be expected for any learner wishing to follow this option. Learners are often referred to this route by their existing care and support workers.
Assessment:
Assessment is ongoing and consistent throughout the academic year, this is evident via an initial screening process and then regularly via the Personal Development Plan. Learners are assessed on an individual basis by the tutor. The online PDP system allows for the learner to log in and view their progress and targets so they are always aware of their achievement to date. Three annual reviews and regular staff meetings ensure that the assessment and review process continues to map individual progression.
Progression from this course:
Learners may need more than one year on a bespoke programme to address their particular areas of need, but dependant on their progress, could go onto take an accredited course within the college, in a number of areas including Foundation Studies. An opportunity to discuss progression in detail is usually via a Progress Evening held in March.
