If you are thinking about setting up your own business or need to improve your management skills, this distance learning course begins by helping you decide whether self-employment is right for you. It goes on to cover the knowledge and skills you need to start up your own business, from financial and legal planning to market testing, business planning, securing premises, customers and suppliers.

Entry requirements and hours of study:

• No previous knowledge or experience is required
• Each of the course topics is self-contained and can be studied at your own pace.

Specification:

This course does not lead to a formal qualification, but does provide underpinning knowledge for an Owner Management NVQ should you decide to prepare for one. When you have finished all the assignments you will be eligible for an NEC Certificate of Course Completion.

Assessment:

Individual tuition with 12 marked assignments.
