Annual Update in First Aid Skills
This three hour course is for first aiders who already have the first aid at work certificate and would like to come and practice their skills.
The HSE strongly recommend that first-aiders undertake annual refresher training during any three-year FAW/EFAW certification period. Although not mandatory, this will help qualified first-aiders maintain their basic skills and keep up to date with any changes to first-aid procedures (please note: the two day refresher after 3 years still remains mandatory).

The revision covers:
- Incident management
- Recovery position
- CPR
- Bleeding and shock
- Accident reporting
- First aid kits and hygiene
During the training, candidates should demonstrate their competence
to:
- assess the situation in an emergency
- administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including
seizure)
- administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and
bleeding
- administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from
shock
