This course encourages students to develop a critical understanding of organisations, the markets they serve and the process of adding value.

At AS level this involves issues such as looking at the challenges of starting a business, including financial planning and other functions.

At A2 level students will consider issues such as strategies for larger businesses, how managers measure performance, the effects of external factors and how managers manage change.

Students will follow a programme which combines class teaching with small group work, discussion, lectures, video material and case study work.

Entry Requirements:

Interview required

Normally, at least 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including maths and English.

Assessment:

Assessment is based purely upon examination.

AS Level Exams
Unit 1: 1hr 15 mins.
Unit 2: 1hr 30 mins.

A2 Level Exams
Units 3 & 4: 1.75 hours each.

Course Costs:

All students on full-time courses will need to pay a materials/resources fee. Details will be provided before enrolment. If you are under 19 on 31st August in the year you begin your programme, you will not have to pay tuition or registration fees for your course. For students aged 19 or over, there will be a tuition fee (depends on the course) for each year of the course as well as a registration fee (which includes exam fees). However, many students will be eligible for reduced fees and / or financial support towards the costs. Click here for detailed information. You may be required to purchase two textbooks, one for AS and one for A2, costing approximately £20.00 each. Details of required texts plus a general reading list will be provided upon commencement of the programme.
