If you are aged between 19 and 23 and you don’t have a qualification equivalent to 2 A Levels, tuition fees will be waived. If you meet the Eligible Benefit criteria AND are aged 19-23, tuition fees will be waived. Tuition fees will not be waived for students aged over 23 studying a Level 3 or higher course, however these students may qualify for a 24+ Advanced Learning Loan.

Course Content: This course is designed to offer a gateway into the
photographic industry or further study; this two year course is
structured around eighteen mandatory units, these units present an
opportunity for the learner to explore traditional and contemporary
photographic materials, techniques and processes. Investment in
digital technologies has meant that the student will have access to
vital state of the art digital equipment and training. Students are
encouraged to develop their own unique style with emphasis placed
on the development of the student’s appreciation of photography as
a method of visual communication and expression. Housed in a
purpose built art school; the photography department consists of a
professional standard traditional darkroom, studios and digital
darkroom facilities. Course lecturers are working professionals and
are able to offer the student an insight into current industry
practice. The course will culminate in an end of year student
exhibition. Entry Qualification: Students need at least 5 GCSE
passes at Grade C or above one of which must be Maths or English.
It is desirable for students to have gained a Grade C or above in
Maths and English. (However, exception will be made for students
with 4 GCSE Grade A-C who demonstrate at interview an exceptional
ability within Art and Design). Students will be expected to re-sit
Maths or English exams to bring them up to the appropriate level.
You may also qualify with a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design
with a merit grade. You must be over 16 years of age. Mature
applicants are welcomed. Special Features: Students work in the
purpose-designed Art School with the latest equipment and
facilities for photography student. The Course culminates with an
exhibition of student work. Past students have gone on to win
national photographic prizes. Course Format: The programme is
primarily practical allowing you to learn by doing, in addition to
this; written contextual and theoretical elements enhance your
appreciation of visual communication and aid your development as an
image maker. The majority of projects will attempt to recreate the
world of work and encourage the learner to develop a unique style
within their chosen field.
