Who is this course for?

This course is suitable for students who have previously completed a beginner's course or have prior experience.

What will I do on the course?

This structured course will enable students to creatively develop and use a variety of watercolour techniques and skills learnt on the beginner's course, using both traditional and contemporary water based mediums.

Students will experiment further with washes, colour, composition, texture, pen, ink and wash techniques. Drawing skills will be introduced and developed.

What will I do on the course?

This structured course will enable students to creatively develop and use a variety of watercolour techniques and skills learnt on the beginner's course, using both traditional and contemporary water based mediums.

Students will experiment further with washes, colour, composition, texture, pen, ink and wash techniques. Drawing skills will be introduced and developed.

Subjects covered will be based on developing a variety of source material based on photographic reference and from observation. This will include landscape, water, still life, flowers, interiors, the human figure and buildings/street scenes etc.

Instruction of all technical processes will be through demonstration, contextual information on artists, one to one tuition and discussion.

Practical work may be traditional or abstract and will be carried out through individual projects, based on the students own ideas negotiated with the tutor, or group project themes. Project themes will cover a number of weeks in order to explore and fulfil technical skills and ideas.
