Who is this course for?

If you are interested in science and looking to follow a career in the area, or wishing to progress to university, then this is the course for you. The course is equivalent to 3 A levels and will develop your learning through practical tasks, activities and exercises.

What will I do on the course?

The course covers a range of subjects which are delivered through units where the emphasis is upon a practical hands-on approach to science. You will study eighteen units over the two years covering a range of subjects including;
  • Investigative and practical techniques
  • Perceptions of science
  • Physiology of the human body systems
  • Environmental sciences

In addition, you will learn skills that are required in any career choice, including health & safety, confidence building, social and practical skills, and English and Maths. We also offer English and Maths GCSE resits.

What qualifications do I need?

  • 4 GCSEs at Grades A-C including English or Maths, OR
  • 5 GCSEs at Grades A-C excluding English or Maths, OR
  • Level 2 qualification in a related subject
  • Adequate standard of English and Maths
  • Mature learners with other qualifications and/or experience are also welcomed
  • You should have a strong interest in science and demonstrate a commitment to succeed
