Applied Science Diploma Level 2

Who is this course for?

If you are interested in what science is used for and prefer to learn through practical tasks, activities and exercises then this is the course for you. Through doing this course you will learn basic laboratory skills to prepare you for a future career in the sciences.

What will I do on the course?

The course offers a practical, hands-on approach to science and covers a range of subjects;

• Chemistry and our Earth
• Energy and our universe
• Biology and our environment
• Maintaining the environment
• Living body
• Investigating a crime scene
• Chemical analysis and detection

In addition, you will learn skills that are required in any career choice, including health & safety, confidence building, social and practical skills, English and Maths. We also offer English and Maths GCSE resits.

What qualifications do I need?

• 4 GCSEs Grade D or above, OR
• Level 1 qualification in a related subject
• Adequate standard of English and Maths
• Mature learners with other qualifications and/or experience are also welcome
• You should have a strong interest in science and demonstrate a commitment to succeed

Are there any additional costs?

Learners may be required to purchase their own personal equipment during the course. Prices and details will be discussed at interview. Bursary funds may be available to help with additional costs.
